The human heart

One night God showed me
The depths of the human heart
It was heartless, black
And badly torn apart
Eternal torment on that night
Seemed a perfect judgement
It was my heart revealed
Oh how I did lament

It was a terrible place to go
Every law broken
Out of my heart
In vileness it was soaking
God spoke clearly
His judgement was coming
Now to write a poem
So men would begin running

To Christ to Christ
Oh flee now to him
And speedily repent
Of all your wicked sin
Give it up surrender now
You know not what you are
One revelation from our God
Could show you just how far

You are from him
Oh deceitful heart
Desperately wicked
It must eternally depart
Into outer
Darkness and torment
The vain imaginations
That never shall repent
